Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we embark on a new year filled with promise and possibility, we find ourselves at a critical juncture in the ongoing struggle for justice and equity. While we hold onto hope for a brighter future, we cannot ignore the significant challenges that lie ahead, challenges that demand our unwavering commitment and collective action.

With over 370 anti LGBTQ+ laws in the U.S. we are reminded of the persistent threats to the safety and dignity of LGBTQ+ individuals, especially Trans and Gender Nonconforming people. More than ever we are reminded how important it is to build community and fight transphobic and homophobic policies that will rollback protection and rights that we have been relentlessly fighting for.

Similarly, the issue of immigration remains a pressing concern, with millions of people displaced and seeking refuge from conflict, persecution, and economic hardship. In the face of rising xenophobia and anti-immigrant sentiment, it is imperative that we mobilize with and for people who are directly impacted by the immigration justice system. Discriminatory laws, violence, and systemic barriers continue to pose significant challenges to our vision of queer and trans liberation.

As conflicts rage on in various parts of the world, the toll of armed conflict on innocent civilians continues to mount. The devastating impact of war, displacement, and violence underscores the urgent need for peaceful resolutions and humanitarian support for those affected by conflict. We must stand in solidarity against colonial oppressors, militarization, and the occupation of people everywhere.

When confronting these challenges, we are reminded of the power of collective action. Each one of us has a role to play in advancing the cause of justice and building a more inclusive and compassionate world. Together, let us forge ahead with hope, love, and determination in our actions.

Thank you to all of our communities for your unwavering support.

With gratitude,

The Queer Detainee Empowerment Project
